Meet Jordan
Certified Postpartum Doula
Carrot Fertility Approved Doula
Jordan has lived and worked in New York City for over ten years. She became a Postpartum Doula following a career in public health, after the birth of her first child. It was then she became acutely aware of the types of support postpartum people need. Through working with families, she has developed an innate sense of what parents to newborns desire - calm, nourishment, knowledge, tidiness, companionship, and space for self-care. She provides all-encompassing support to you and your newborn, including cooking and other household tasks that foster enjoyment and rest in the fourth trimester.
As a doula, Jordan is a great listener and gives sound advice. While we were working together, I was navigating some breastfeeding and pumping challenges. In our conversations, she continually encouraged me to trust myself and reassured me that I was capable of making the right choices for both my baby and me. I also really appreciated how Jordan was able to intuit our needs. There were several occasions during which she found ways to be helpful around our home and with our baby without us needing to ask. Jordan offers warm energy and an industrious spirit to this work, and our family was very grateful to work with her.
Jordan was such a valuable resource and her support was so well-rounded - between helping us get comfortable taking care of Eden, and also helping us adjust to our new life during those first few weeks. I especially appreciated how much she proactively recommended we take time to relax, nap, etc. when she was here to help and how much support she provided us with meal prep and cooking.
Caretaking is intrinsic to Jordan. She easefully and simultaneously navigated our needs in addition to our baby's. At a time when it's so easy to neglect your own care, Jordan ensured that I was fed with her home-cooked meals and gave me opportunities to nap and bathe. Without needing instruction, Jordan took care of dishes and laundry so that I could spend more time with my newborn. She helped me feel comfortable caring for my fragile new baby by teaching me how to feed my baby, how to use a variety of baby carriers and swaddles, and how to change a diaper. Rather than require a rigid commitment, she allowed us flexibility to redefine what type of support we needed as our care needs evolved. As first-time parents, this was all so new, and I appreciated how much Jordan really prompted us with all of the ways she could help and seemed to just jump into action even if we weren't explicitly asking for something.
Jordan knew the right moments to offer proactive support, and also when to fall back and allow my wife to come to decisions or give appropriate space. She was knowledgeable and equal parts emotional, physical, and mental reinforcement.
